I tend to think of my studio practice as being split into two trajectories. My primary interest is abstract painting, with a focus on formal and material concerns. Some motifs that arise in my paintings include a play between flatness and depth, and an interplay of hard-edged forms, both of which are informed by my parallel pursuits in graphic design. My second mode of working is not so strictly aesthetic, and often deals with themes of personal identity within greater social and economic contexts. |
